Release Notes for invasimapr v0.1.0

🚀 First public release of invasimapr

This release introduces a novel framework to visualise trait dispersion and to assess species invasiveness and site invasibility using a trait–environment–interaction perspective. The package implements a structured pipeline to calculate invasion fitness based on intrinsic growth potential, competitive pressure from residents, and interaction strengths derived from trait overlap and environmental context.

✨ Features

  • Trait-based competition modelling: Gower distances, ordination (PCoA), clustering, trait centrality, and dispersion metrics.
  • Environment and resident context: integrate abiotic predictors and community composition into invasion fitness.
  • Invasion fitness workflow: compute species-level invasiveness and site-level invasibility.
  • Simulation and prediction: introduce hypothetical invaders, predict abundances, and explore biotic and abiotic filters.
  • Visualisation utilities: invasion fitness matrices, invader rankings, site-level risk categories, clustering, and faceted maps.
  • Conceptual workflow integration: designed to work alongside [dissmapr](https://github.com/macSands/dissmapr) for biodiversity data preparation.

📦 Notes

  • This is the initial release (v0.1.0) - APIs and functions are subject to change as the framework evolves.
  • Suitable for exploratory analyses, proof-of-concept applications, and feedback from early adopters.
  • Issues and feature requests can be submitted via the GitHub issue tracker.

🔜 Roadmap

  • Additional metrics for functional trait dispersion and environmental filtering.
  • Interactive visualisation tools and scenario exploration modules.
  • Extended vignettes and tutorials for reproducibility.
