Experiment
An experiment: edit the quarto source file on Overleaf and Google Docs but still renderable offline with Quarto.

While editing:
- Please turn off "Smart Quotes" (Tools, Preferences, Use Smart Quotes)
- Download the file as "txt" (File, Download, Plain Text (txt)). There might be an Markdown option but it won't work.
A technical detail about line ending: The default Plain Text export from Google Docs uses DOS/Windows line ending (CR LF), while Quarto on at least my OS (Ubuntu) expects Unix/Mac style line ending (LF). I should test this on a Windows machine. But a quick solution is to use dos2unix to convert the line ending.
Unlike Overleaf, Google Docs does not export unapproved changes.
