Recent Releases of luto-2.0

luto-2.0 - LUTO 2.3 Alpha

Includes 3 agricultural management solutions (asparagopsis, ecological grazing, precision agriculture) and 3 non-agricultural land-use solutions (environmental plantings, riparian plantings, agroforestry). Also includes biodiversity as an indicator.

Now incorporates thousands of combinations of global and domestic scenario settings and sustainability solutions which influence Australian agricultural demand including: - SCENARIO = SSP1, SSP2, SSP3, SSP4, SSP5 - DIETDOM = 'BAU', 'FLX', 'VEG', 'VGN' - domestic diets in Australia - DIETGLOB = 'BAU', 'FLX', 'VEG', 'VGN' - global diets - CONVERGENCE = 2050 or 2100 - date at which dietary transformation is completed (velocity of transformation) - IMPORTTREND = 'Static' (assumes 2010 shares of imports for each commodity) or 'Trend' (follows historical rate of change in shares of imports for each commodity) - WASTE = 1 for full waste, 0.5 for half waste - FEEDEFFICIENCY = 'BAU' or 'High'

Detailed HTML-based reporting functionality added.

Incorporated fire risk discounting to carbon sequestration given the user a choice of low, med, or high estimates of fire impacts based on previous spatial modelling.

Added a risk-of-reversal buffer to carbon offsets which can be chosen by the user. Currently set to 5% as per ERF 100 year permanence requirement.

Calibrated the baseline water yield modelling according to pre-European native vegetation forest structure and rooting depth. This now matches the modelled natural flows of Australia's rivers (e.g., as compared with MDB sustainable yields work).

Added the option to switch CO2 fertilisation on/off when considering climate change impacts on agricultural production from GAEZ v4.

Added a timeseries greenhouse gas target so that in timeseries runs the emissions reduction is achieved over time. The form of this transition can take any shape required.

luto-2.0 - LUTO 2.0.1 Beta

DOI (2.0.1-beta code)

DOI (2.0.1-beta input data)

LUTO 2.0.1 Beta. Version includes a fully functional demand-driven agricultural switching model. Agricultural land-uses (i.e., commodities) and land management (i.e., irrigated/dryland) are allocated to grid cells such that (externally specified) agricultural demand is met at lowest cost (i.e., cost of production plus transition cost). Constraints are imposed such that water use by agricultural production (irrigation plus livestock drinking water) does not exceed environmental limits for water use by catchment (river region or drainage division) which are currently set as the average water used annually between 2005 and 2015. Useable for simulating agricultural response to changes in demand for Australian agricultural production.
