bithesis - v3.8.3 (Public Release)

这个版本主要是适应2025年三月末新研究生模板。

• 硕博模板

  • 若已在用之前 v3.8.3-alpha-1 测试版：这次基本没有变化，可以不升级；如想升级，替换bithesis.cls即可。
  • 若在用 v3.8.2 或更早版本：因为要填信息，不能像往常一样单纯替换bithesis.cls；请参考以下升级指南。

• 本科模板：升级仍只需替换bithesis.cls。

硕博升级指南

1. 下载新的模板包并解压。
2. 用新的bithesis.cls替换旧的bithesis.cls。
3. 将新的misc/icon_{academic,professional}.jpg复制到旧的misc/。
4. 参考新的main.tex重新填写\BITSetup{ info = {…} }：
   • 增加学号studentId（用于封皮）、研究生类型degreeType（学术型academic、专业型professional）。
   • 若是专业型研究生，增加行业合作导师industrialMentor{,En}。
   • 若是工程硕博士专项，增加工程硕博士专项 = true。
5. 重新编译。

此外，关于 #584 图表标题与周围文字的间距异常（特别是 float 宏包），可以用\captionsetup[figure]{belowskip = 0pt}微调。

硕博升级指南

这个测试版主要是适应2025年三月末新研究生模板。因为要填信息，不能像往常一样单纯替换bithesis.cls；请如下操作。

1. 下载新的模板包并解压。
2. 用新的bithesis.cls替换旧的bithesis.cls。
3. 将新的misc/icon_{academic,professional}.jpg复制到旧的misc/。
4. 参考新的main.tex重新填写\BITSetup{ info = {…} }：
   • 增加学号studentId（用于封皮）、研究生类型degreeType（学术型academic、专业型professional）。
   • 若是专业型研究生，增加行业合作导师industrialMentor{,En}。
   • 若是工程硕博士专项，增加工程硕博士专项 = true。
5. 重新编译。

此外，关于 #584 图表标题与周围文字的间距异常（特别是 float 宏包），可以用\captionsetup[figure]{belowskip = 0pt}微调。

（本科不受影响，升级仍只需替换bithesis.cls，当然不升级也可以。）

补充（2025年4月3日傍晚）

如果三种类型都不是，封面「学生类型」信息框为美观默认关闭。如需开启，请编辑main.tex： diff \BITSetup{ cover = { … autoWidthPadding = 0.25em, + showSpecialTypeBox = true, },

以前和研究生院确认过这个信息框重要程度比较低，这回还没有问。如果有人通知要始终保留，欢迎分享，LaTeX模板可以改一下默认行为。

更新 LaTeX 发行版至最新

bithesis 跟随 CTAN 的其它宏包一起（比如 CTeX），被自动打包到了最新的 LaTeX 发行版中。如果你安装 LaTeX 的时间早于2021年，那么建议你运行以下语句，通过包管理器更新自己的包：

tlmgr update --self --all

如果你在使用其他的发行版（如 MikTex），可以使用相应的包管理器更新或者安装 bithesis。

验证 bithesis 成功安装

一般来说，你可以尝试运行 texdoc bithesis 来打开 bithesis 的宏集手册（目前手册中没有内容）。

☃️ Time flies! Welcome to 2021!

In v1.2.1, we did not ship any new features or issue fixes. We focused on refining our documents, indicating the completion of the project’s migration.

🎉 Official Support

This project (2021) is verified as compatible with the latest final-year thesis formatting standards of BIT. In short, you are more than welcome to use it in your graduation thesis.

📦 Maintainer Change

Finally, we are proud to announce that, as of 2021, this project will be officially maintained and developed by the Net Pioneer Association of BIT.

bithesis - Publish release v1.2.0

Congrats on finishing your thesis! (If not, be quick!) I recommend using this last template to recompile your LaTeX project, in order to comply with the latest style requirements.

🚀 Improvements

• We added support for external mentors. If your final year project needs external mentor cover page support, try compiling the template with \externalMentorName{} defined! (Credit @Lancern)
• We added contributing / issue guidelines to our project. (Credit @fky2015)

🐛 Bug fixes

• We fixed the template's TeX typesetting parameters to make sure all paragraphs are within the bounding box of the article. (Credit @Lancern)
• We fixed the indentation of the template's TOC according to specifications made by the Dept. of Undergraduate Academic Affairs.
• We polished our Wiki to comply with the latest template.

Graduation Thesis

• We added \unnumchapter command to fix all chapters with no numbering required. (Credits: @Lancern)
• We added numbered sections support for 3_conclusion, 5_appendix, and 6_acknowledgements, and added predefined section formats inside appendix following the guidelines made by BIT. (Credits: @Lancern)

Online Wiki / PDF

• We added documentation for the usage of ntheorem to define theorem environments in your LaTeX documents. (Credits: @shoopshoop)

🐛 Bug fixes

• We fixed an issue in section abstract where clicking on the link in TOC will take you to the cover of the document.
• We fixed an issue where having multi-lined footnotes result in splitting them across 2 separate pages.
• We fixed an issue where macOS / Linux / Overleaf users have an extra blank page at the end of the document. (Credit: @felinae98)
• We noticed an issue where equations have different spacings above and below. However this is an intended feature if you have a blank line before and after your equation inside your LaTeX source code, the correct way to resolve this is to not have blank lines. (Yes we are not kidding.)

bithesis - 🧊 Release v0.1.1

We have published all existing wiki content onto a standalone website: BIThesis Wiki for better styles and video embedding. The original wiki on GitHub will still be available, but won't be updated.

Release v0.1.1 mainly focuses on wiki transfers.

Bug-fix and improvements

• 🐛 Changed all documentation links to BIThesis Wiki website.
• 🐛 Made latexmk the default compiler for all templates.

bithesis - 💡 Release v0.1.0

A long time since we published a release. It is time!

Release v0.1.0 mainly focuses on bug fixes.

Bug-fix and improvements

• 🐛 Fix a bug where the page numbers are a slight higher than the original Word template. (Credits: @mwl0811)
• 🐛 Fix a bug where the "Originality" page is not exactly the same as the original Word template, and also provide a PDF insert substitution. (Credits: @mwl0811)
• 🐛 Add a \section{} demo to the final conclusion page.

Documentation updates

• 📖 Add flowchart to Wiki and PDF documentation. (as requested by the Dean's Office)
• 📖 Fix all problems related to "class 2019/class 2020" and so on.

What's next?

We are very close to releasing a final v1.0.0 version! In the mean time, we are focusing on providing a detailed video guide on how to use BIThesis, stay tuned!

bithesis - 🍌 Release v0.0.3

Overleaf integration

We have published the BIThesis Final Graduation Thesis template onto Overleaf. Now you can edit both your Graduation Thesis and your Proposal Report in LaTeX directly on Overleaf.

Documentation

• We have released a PDF version documentation for BIThesis and will publish the document alongside each release.
• We have finished writing the online Wiki documentation, adding the following chapters:
  • Converting LaTeX document to Word: with the help of Pandoc
  • Troubleshooting: using minted environments, font missing (Issue #6), and compilation suggestions
  • Acknowledgements: acknowledging contributions for BIThesis

Bug-fix and improvements

• Add Chinese version README for BIThesis
• Add newly designed cover page for lab report templates

• Fix an issue where equation numbering doesn't match the chapter headings for the graduation thesis template
