burn4h2 - Initial release

This optimization framework was developed by the HTWK Leipzig as part of the research project “BURN4H2 - Development of gas turbine combustion technology and operating concepts for hydrogen-powered power plants in an integrated energy system” (FKZ: 03EE5140C). The framework focuses in particular on the modeling of a combined energy system of a combined heat and power plant and the integration of hydrogen as an energy carrier. The aim in developing the framework was to investigate the systemic effects of hydrogen on power plant operation and on other components of the energy system in the cross-connected system.

The framework uses the Python programming language in combination with the algebraic modelling language Pyomo and enables the formulation of a mixed-integer linear optimization problem (MILP), which is solved with various solvers.

The project was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). We gratefully acknowledge the support provided by the BMWK in enabling the research and development and wish to thank all our project partners for helpful comments and fruitful discussions.
