Digital Dramaturgy

Digital Dramaturgy enables the publication of annotated and/or edited playscripts that can be used as collaborative educational activities in classrooms or as dramaturgical aids for dramatic presentations.

Quick Start Guide

Overview

Digital Dramaturgy provides a simple framework to:

  1. Create your annotated playscript using a Google Sheet
  2. Preview your script on our platform
  3. Deploy your own version as a website

Basic Steps

  1. Prepare Your Script

  2. Publish Your Spreadsheet

    • In Google Sheets: File → Publish to the Web
    • Select Sheet 1 and CSV format
    • Copy the provided link
  3. Preview Your Script

  4. Create Your Own Site (requires GitHub account)

For detailed instructions, see our complete directions page.

Built on CollectionBuilder

Digital Dramaturgy is built on CollectionBuilder, an open-source framework for creating digital collection websites with Jekyll. CollectionBuilder transforms collection metadata into engaging visualizations and browsable exhibits.

The platform generates static sites that can be hosted on any basic web server or deployed automatically via GitHub Pages. It uses modern web technologies including Bootstrap, DataTables, Leaflet, and Lunr.js.

For more information about extending your Digital Dramaturgy site with additional features, visit the CollectionBuilder Documentation.
