Taniti Tourism Website Prototype
This is an interactive prototype for the Taniti Tourism website, designed to showcase the island's attractions, activities, lodging options, and essential visitor information. The prototype is built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and is designed to be responsive for both desktop and mobile devices.
Project Overview
This prototype was created as part of a UX design project for the island of Taniti. The goal was to design a tourism website that would increase tourism on the island and provide a welcoming experience for prospective tourists.
The prototype includes:
- A responsive design that works on both desktop and mobile devices
- Interactive navigation and booking functionality
- Detailed information about attractions, activities, and lodging options
- Essential visitor information including safety, currency, and transportation details

How to Use
- Open
index.htmlin a web browser to view the homepage - Navigate through the website using the navigation menu
- Test the five usability tasks:
- Navigate to the Attractions page from the homepage
- Find a snorkeling tour and proceed to the booking page
- Find a mid-range bed & breakfast option in Taniti
- Find information on available taxi services on the island
- Access the website on a mobile device and navigate to the Visitor Essentials section
Deployment
To deploy this website and get a URL that you can share with your instructor, follow the instructions in the Deployment_Guide.md file. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for deploying the website to GitHub Pages, which will give you a public URL.
Design Decisions
This prototype was designed based on:
- A persona profile of a typical Taniti tourist
- A low-fidelity wireframe showing the suggested flow of the website
- Feedback from guerrilla usability testing with three user testers
Key design decisions include:
- Adding a prominent "Book Now" button in the header
- Emphasizing top activities with larger thumbnails
- Ensuring mobile-friendly design with appropriate layouts
- Making the CTA more prominent in the hero section
- Adding emergency contacts in the footer's "Visitor Info" section
- Creating a dedicated "Book Your Stay" page
- Providing both grid and carousel options for activities
