# ERA5 Diurnal Cycle Analysis: Hours Above Daily Mean Temperature

This repository contains the processing and plotting scripts used in the study:

**Bushra, N., et al. (2025). Increasing Trend in Duration of Temperatures above the Daily Mean Temperature over the Terrestrial Earth**  

The analysis investigates global trends in the number of hours per day where hourly 2-m air temperature exceeds the daily mean, using ERA5 reanalysis data.

## Data Source

Hourly 2-m air temperature data were obtained from the **ERA5 reanalysis dataset** (Copernicus Climate Change Service, 2019), available here: https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu.
